A momment spent with your family that you enjoyed

One of the greatest misconceptions of all time is probably "you need to be rich to live a good life". No. That is not true at all. In the midst of a economic struggle where prices are all rising, it is common that people would rant on how life would be so much better with money. I am sure everyone has read the newspapers and heard of some well-respected actor or actress suffering from depression, some even commiting suicide. Solid proof that being rich doesn't necassarily mean happiness. Happiness can be derived from somewhere you belong to. And that is your family. The one that will back you up in times of need. The one that will never betray you.

Just yesterday, I ate a simple dinner with my family, consisting of my father, mother, sister brother, and me. Yes, just as simple as that. It doesn't have to be a good meal, nor does it need to have a great environment. Just great interaction across the table among the family. Even helping your parents place a succulent, moist meat can make he rest of their day.

Just in case you were wondering, we ate pork ribs, baby kailan, egg and 'yam cake' (Yam cake is a dish where yam is shaped like a cake, and then fried to perfection). We didn't eat steak nor escargots. Yet the bonding between the family is beyond describable, and most certainly enjoyable. Just imagine watching your beloved family enjoy their tantalising meal (although it does not have to be) and then having a chat with them, maybe sharing your school life with them. Just immerse yourself in the merry atmostphere, and there you have it. Enjoyable, quality time with your family.

A walk after each meal is a must. Not only does it aid digestion, but also means more time spent with your family. A walk makes you appreciate life even more, or at least it does so for me. My family takes a walk after every meal, and yesterday was no exception.

Sure, you can talk with your family members anytime. But now, think about your everyday life. You and your siblings go to school. Your father goes to work. Mother starts her housework. You come back from school along with your siblings and then spend the whole afternoon doing your homework or studying. At evening, your father comes back, probably just on time for dinner. After dinner, you ought to finish the remainding homework and sleep, while your father has to prepare himself for the next working day. How much time do you actually have to keep up with each other? Dinner is a great time to get in touch with your family, especially on busy weekdays.

You should treasure each time spent with your family, and that applies even more to your parents, for you may never know when they might just perish. I learnt that the hard way, and that is through the death of someone I care for - my grandfather. So I cherished it second of the splendid dinner yesterday, not wasting a single bit of time with my parents' company.

So I urge everyone to treasure each time you have with your family. For those with both maternal and paternal grandparents still around, my personal, sincere advice is to spend more time talking to them and learning about their history . For each momment with your family members are priceless.
